The Happiest Toddler on the Block

The Happiest Toddler on the Block
by Harvey Karp, M.D
5*/5

Finished my first book of the year. Sometimes communication with children 3yrs and younger can be tough. Lately I have been feeling like I just don't measure up to my eighteen month old. Between tantrums, spoiled shopping trips, and a great deal of attention she demands, I felt like I had been failing as a mother. Since toddlers don't come with a manual when they are born, I headed out to do some research. I came across DR. Harvy Karps The Happiest Toddler on the Block. I did not get past the first three pages without pulling out my pencil! I circled, underlined and dog-eared all the way through the book. He explains a concept of FFR (fast food Restaurant) and Toddler-ese to help the communication between you and your toddler. At first I thought Toddler-ese? kinda babyish but then I started paying close attention to how we were speaking to her and we all ready do it! Now we know how to use it. This book is my #1 pick for raising and understanding a toddler. First thing I realized is that I have not failed! Then once I started using his principles my life has been so much easier, Kyla's tantrums lessened, and I have a lot more patience and understanding.
